Zeta Psi Lambda Inspires Youth to "Man Up"

The Zeta Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and the Zeta Psi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, partnered together to host a male teen workshop titled, "Man Up: Empowering Young Men Towards Excellence."

Brother Roberson, was the featured speaker for the event, presenting a powerful message to a group of young men ranging in age from 10 to 18 years old. The presentation, “The Creation of a Man starts with Self,” dealt with teenage self-crises: self-esteem, self-image, self-respect, self-discipline and goal setting.

An entire section of the workshop was an open forum to allow the group to ask questions regarding issues they may be current challenges. It allowed the young men the opportunity to really open up. Brother Roberson offered advice varying from topics such as peer pressure, temptations, abstinence, bullying and even dealing with a sick parent.

Mother's Day Program

The Zeta Psi Lambda Chapter sponsors a Mother’s Day program yearly in the local community. The chapter honors diligent mothers who are not able to be recognized by their children or family due to uncontrollable circumstances. Recipients are nominated by friends or family to receive a basket and balloons presented by Brothers of the chapter. Brothers deliver baskets to the homes of the nominees on the Saturday morning prior to Mother’s Day. The mothers are thanked for their efforts and encouraged to continue serving our community through their exemplary parenthood.

Local mothers are celebrated

Local mothers are celebrated

The Brothers of Zeta Psi Lambda wanted to show appreciation for a special woman that through her ministry and servant leadership has shaped the futures of African-American boys for the past several years. Leading the way for our youth, her Young Men In Transition Program instills "the future is in your hands" into the lives of these young leaders. Women like Wanda Ramirez illustrates to us everyday the impact of a strong woman in our lives.
